Seed Strategy Celebrates 20 Years of Growing Bigger Ideas, Clearer Horizons, Stronger Brands, Deeper Connections

Change may be the only constant in life, but certain trends echo throughout business. Opportunity never waits for long. It’s a demanding effort to seize it. Inhouse resources aren’t always on-hand to do so.

For 20 years, Seed Strategy has continuously evolved its marketing strategy and innovation practices to help clients navigate these realities and grow bigger, stronger and faster in the process.

Today, the agency offers full-service support to entrepreneurial ventures within large organizations, helping to manage the complexities of bringing disruptive innovation to market.

Recent projects have seen the team partnering with clients to take an idea from a basis of interest study, through to brand development, package design and in-store merchandising, and on to media planning and commercial-idea creation.

While Seed has continuously anticipated market changes and evolved its practices accordingly, it’s done so guided by principles established from the start by Founder Susan Jones:

• Seed’s people and their creative minds are the agency’s greatest asset.
• If you focus on moving people first, products and services will follow.
• Always do what’s right for a project, no matter the obstacles.
• Kindness and optimism can create game-changing momentum.

Jones launched Seed on February 1, 2002, as a sanctuary for the entrepreneurial creative spirit, believing clients would be drawn to the energy and great work. That sanctuary grew even stronger when employee-owned decision-science powerhouse Burke, Inc. acquired Seed, in 2014.

Accordingly, many of the team members who joined Seed in its first decade remain with the company today, helping to grow it. And many of the clients who partnered with Seed early on, still return to work with the agency again and again, even if they’ve changed companies.

It’s testament to another truism: relationships matter, whether it’s a brand’s relationship with its consumers, an agency’s relationship with its clients, or a team’s relationship with one another.

“Our clients come to us with tough challenges, and they have to know you have their back, every step of the way,” said Jones. “The hard work and dedication of the Seed family, the inspired Burke partnership, and those strong client relationships have allowed us to endure.”

“When Seed joined Burke, we saw the huge advantages we could provide our clients by combining world-class decision science with breakthrough innovation,” said Burke President and CEO Diane Surette. “That dynamic interplay continues to yield exciting success stories.”

“What has always energized us is the next challenge that comes through the door,” said Seed President Eric Scheer. “We’re always honored when clients choose Seed to help them grow.”

As the agency celebrates its 20th anniversary of growing through change, it’s only fitting that Seed’s very first hire has the very last word.

“Seed’s early days were a thrilling ride and it’s only gotten more exciting as we’ve increased our creative horsepower,” said Jeff Johns, Seed SVP, Creative. “I’m more excited than ever for what comes next—for Seed, Burke and our clients.”
