Cherri Prince to Speak at Annual CPSI Conference—Sponsored by Seed
The CPSI (Creative Problem Solving Institute) conference has been inspiring minds and elevating ideas for 64 years—making it the world’s longest-running creativity conference. With hands-on workshops and inspiring speakers, CPSI equips attendees with the skills to master ambiguous challenges and solve complex problems by implementing “deliberate creativity.”
In fact, these are just the kind of challenges we embrace at Seed. So, we decided we had to be involved. In addition to sponsoring this year’s CPSI conference, Seed is sending send our very own creative problem-solving guru, Cherri Prince. She’s speaking on one of her favorite topics—the power of insights.
Suffice to say, we’re excited. So is she. But before she ships out to Buffalo next week, we wanted to ask her a few questions…
So what is it, exactly, that made you want to attend CPSI 2018?
This is a can’t-miss event. In fact, I’ve attended and taught courses there almost EVERY year since 1998! CPSI (pronounced SIP-see) is the longest-running creativity conference in the world, and the founder—Alex Osborne—was an early pioneer of “deliberate creativity.” Believe it or not, he’s actually the guy who coined the phrase “brainstorming” in his book Applied Imagination, published back in the ‘50s.
I believe creativity is a tangible asset that needs to be fed and nurtured. And I see that same attitude in the creative culture at Seed. In fact, we believe in that ideal so strongly, we decided to sponsor CPSI 2018. And I’m very proud—and excited—to be one of the spotlight speakers and leaders at the conference.
How will attending CPSI benefit Seed and our clients?
A lot of people believe that creativity is a gift or a rare occurrence. Like catching lightning in a bottle. But CPSI approaches creativity as an art and a science—a deliberate discipline that can be accessed and replicated to solve any business or brand challenge.
With Seed and our clients, I love being about to share—and implement—the latest insights on creativity, to solve business challenges and achieve breakthrough innovations.
What are you most looking forward to at CPSI?
I’m looking forward to re-connecting with kindred spirits who share the belief that creativity is the most powerful force for change. CPSI unites visionary people from far-reaching disciplines—medical science, engineering, marketing, sensory science, psychology, astrophysics… can you imagine the dinner conversations?!
That said, I think what I’m most looking forward to… is discovering spontaneous insights, ideas and connections—the kind of “a-ha” moments that inspire new and exciting perspectives on tough challenges. These are the kind of breakthroughs that really make a difference in to my work at Seed.
That’s it for now. But stay tuned… as we continue to cover CPSI next week.
