Looking Forward to the 2017 Fast Company Innovation Festival

 
The Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City is just a few short days away. Different than your typical industry conference, The Fast Company Innovation Festival is known for its innovative “fast tracks”—essentially field trips inside some of the hottest companies like Brandless, BuzzFeed, Pinterest, Plated and more. (There are actually more than 125 different fast tracks at the time of this post.)

The theme of this year’s festival is Leading With Optimism, a timely challenge that is meant to encourage its participants to affect positive changes in their workplaces, their careers and their industries.

Seed’s Emily May is excited to be among those in attendance. We sat down with Emily prior to her trip to get her thoughts about the festival.
 
So, what made you decide to attend The Fast Company Innovation Festival?
We are in such a season of change. Our business and clients are changing. Our work is changing. Even our perspectives have shifted so much in the last year or so. That’s what this Innovation Festival is all about: recognizing and validating that change—and more importantly—providing ourselves with tools to thrive in this ever-evolving landscape.
 
How will going to the festival benefit Seed and our clients?
As a firm that inspires clarity, our role is to help our clients navigate the new and changing dynamics of their business. And in order to do that, we need to remain at the forefront of this change—both in awareness and in action. Attending conferences like this gives us the opportunity to stay on top of the latest thinking as well as evaluate new tools and approaches to see if they make sense for our clients.
 
What are you most looking forward to during your time at the festival?
One of my favorite features of this festival is that it’s channel and industry-agnostic. It looks at brands as a whole—everything from delivery services to luxury goods. One of the things I’ve learned in my career is that new perspectives are incredibly valuable and often spark the most meaningful changes in behavior. I’m signed up for several Fast Tracks—in places that are very different than the walls of Seed—for exactly that reason. I can’t wait to bring some of those new perspectives back home.
